| last friday morning at 2:30 am Jamie and Kari arrived, sleepy eyed and road weary from their trek just outside portlandm maine, here to lake george. Jamie was the last of the boys to pay a visit here, and as you can see by my new icon, a project that began in march has finally come to be. as you can see the apple don't fall far from the tree. a scary resemblence(chuckle, snicker laugh)the uncany resemblence doesn't take away from their individuality, for each is dynamic, intelligent, and talented, and for the most part well adjusted individuals. Saturday morning quarter to eight in a little pickup truck borrowed from bill studd, jamie and i piled in and i headed off to massachusettes to the holyoak mall. 140 mile trek one way. I dropped him off, and he met chris in EB, who ferried him up to vermont, then back to greenfeild on sunday. Shortly after i returned from my trip saturday, rich, amanda and jess arrived for a week-long stay while the girls father is on a cruise. Wow the comings and goings how exciting. and we spent a quiet saturday evening (chuckle, snicker, laugh)you know that nice quiet time when you have a house full of children. Sunday morning, 10:30, i went to start the truck and it gave no response. great timing, considering i was on my way to holyoke mall to pick jamie up. So we jumped the truck with mandas car and i was back on my way. not too much time wasted. 8 miles down the road, i thought I ran out of gas. The truth is i ran out of alternator belt, which in this little 4 cylinder nissan, also drives the fuel injection system. the best laid plans (chuckle, snicker, laugh)fortunately amanda and her car were here and joyce was able to grab tools, a can of fuel, and come down and hang with me while i assesed my options. was able to get a belt at auto zone, after discovering napa was closed, Napa being a half mile up the road, and auto zone being six miles in the opposite direction, through the sunday morning outletcenter traffic. (Normally I'd stop here to curse at the frustration, but i did more than enough of that on sunday) Finally at 1:12 pm, 15 minutes before i was supposed to meet Jamie I got on the road again. at 3:05 I arrived 140 miles away at holyoke mall, only an hour and a half late. tried to see some humor in the situation, on the return trip by calling joyce from saratoga 35 minutes away, and telling her i was just hitting the mass border. got home at six, five minutes after telling her i was still in albany, an hour away. (shit head) found out later it wasn't that funny. sunday evening was as quiet and peaceful, if not more so than saturday evening.(chuckle, snicker, laugh)when at 10 minutes to ten (pool closes at 10)all four of the children decided it was a great time for a swim, nevermind the rain falling on them as they swam. the echo of the children's play in the pool(sounds always cherished, and often missed)wandered up the driveway, bringing a long awaited peace to my heart. I've been typing one handed for over 2 hours, my hand is cramped, and i have windows to install. I'll continue later.
